Felt it was best to spread it around.
I posted this message here and will do so on other sites as here is another true fan of the days when derby was derby. Love again to all. As we all know time does move on and old ones leave us and there children take over ,like life now new things become different and these kids want to be themselves and not follower the old times so we just have to wait and hope someone will now go back and learn lessons from our past.

May 16, 04 - 12:42 AM An Old Derby Fan Part II

What is happening to ROLLER DERBY? What is happening to one of Americas greatest sports/games? What is happening to those individuals who continuously disgrace a sport that has so much meaning to many of us? I really don't know, but What I do know is that I must separate myself from what is not ROLLER DERBY. I also must continue to support and love everything that is truly ROLLER DERBY. What is and what isn't ROLLER DERBY? To me, ROLLER DERBY is the greatest American sport played by both sexes without bending the rules. Men and women on equal terms skating seperate periods and providing action unseen in anyother sport. It is an unforgetable adventure full of action, spills and thrills. It is American history during times of reminiscing. It is the pure love expressed by true fan who even in its absense continue to hang-on and won't let it go. It is the great skaters who gave it a reputation to be proud of. It is Gerry Murray, Gene Gammon, Mike Gammon, Joan Western, Charlie O'Connell, Midge Toughie Brasuhn, Ken Monte, Ann Calvello, Loretta Behrens, Buddy Akinson SR. and JR.,Tony Roman, Judi McGuire and so many others. It is definitely part of my unforgetable childhood which I revisit time and time again Roller Derby is extremely special to me. That is why I won't allow anything that is not ROLLER DERBY turn me off to the pureness of a special time in my life.

The following poem is dedicated to true ROLLER DERBY fans:

LIFE, TIME AND PRECIOUS MOMENTS

Time is life and life is precious
And as it passes by with all its adventures
And people we meet
It is our number one teacher.

Life is time and time is precious
But once it is gone
it can never be recapture
Exactly the way it was.

But life's precious moments and time in a frame
can be capture forever in a place called love
which is inspired by the soul
and accepted by the heart.

A place where time and life become one
A place to be shared with those we love
A place to visit during times of reminiscing
A place where ROLLER DERBY has earned a space
A place where memories live on, and on, and on.

What is nor ROLLER DERBY? Five months ago I venture into the world wide WEB. The internet guided me into the world of ROLLER DERBY groups. Although I found some excellent Roller Derby sites, I also found sits that were more distructive than contructive. What a disappointment, What a let down, What a disgrace. Those site are definitely not ROLLER DERBY but more like Jerry Springer. Some moderators are allowing a selective group of distructive individuals to destroy the unforgetable legacy that skaters and fans worked so hard to establish. It is so unfortunate but yet so true. I will say no more about the negativity because our goal must be to remain positive and set a good example. Hopefully, someday I may be able to introduce ROLLER DERBY To my grandchildren or will it be RISTRICTED or PG 13?

Take Care and Keep ROLLER DERBY Alive!
