We here at the National Roller Derby League are pleased to honor Tony Trujillo as our "Spotlight" individual.

Labeled as "The Enforcer" by the Rollergames brand of rollersports, Tony Trujillo dawned the number "2" jersey as a member of the Commissioner's Cup-winning "Violators" team. He continued to be a pivotal part of the team well into the mid-90s. Currently Tony Trujillo can be seen dawning an "Outlaws" jersey as the captain of the team and has had recent memorable rivalries after teaming up with Abel Lara to skate against L.A. Stars captain, Ray Robles and Manager, Honey Sanchez.

Tony Trujillo As A Violator

History

Beginning his training in 1971 and skating pro in 1978, on a national level, Tony Trujillo was regarded as one of the better derby skaters around. Well rounded as a blocker, a jammer, etc. the team could count on Tony Trujillo to get the job done.

If you'll notice in the background, a hunched-over Adam "Speedy" Gonzales after a ruthless attack from Trujillo after the jam was called off. He wasn't dubbed the "Enforcer" for nothing.

Trujillo Skates The Jam
Of course, a lot of people remember this man for his contributions to roller sports as a member of the "black and yellow," however, his contributions to this sport is much more deeper. He has always been a valuble asset to the sport of roller derby, and is still one of the names that can easily strike fear into both rookie and veteran of the sport, alike.

Tony Trujillo Poses For The Fans

Today

35 years since he first stepped onto the derby scene, Tony Trujillo still continues to grace the oval track to this very day. He's just as hardcore and cunning as he's ever been. With age has come a much more trickier Trujillo. A definite change from the cold-hearted, straight-forward and brash individual from the past, he's more crafty... more calculating... more deadlier NOW. Many who've recently seen him in action would definitely agree.

Trujillo Racing Toe-To-Toe with Ray Robles In this July 30th, 2005 encounter with the L.A. Star's Ray Robles, Tony Trujillo definitely took him to the limits. In fact, on this night, Trujillo gave up the opportunity to actually win the "Match Race," just to give Robles a harder pounding. Only a brutal man could believe that winning was not as important as serving out punishment. Tony Trujillo still proves to be that sort of man! We as fans wouldn't have it any other way.

Our hats go off to you, Tony Trujillo.
